José Treviño Botti
José,
Senior Management Consultant at Nuricumbo + Partners, holds a degree in International Relations from
El Colegio de México. He has extensive professional experience in both the public and private sectors
and throughout his career has supported the Mexican government and foreign investors in achieving their
trade and investment projects in Mexico. José also completed postgraduate diplomas in Maritime Transport
at the University of Cambridge, England, and in Management at the IPADE Business School in Mexico City.
José is the Managing Partner of Americompass, S.C., founded in 2001. This international
consulting firm has partners and offices in Mexico City and Calgary, Canada, and offers its combined
expertise in providing services for project development, business relations, and communication. José
has assisted numerous North American companies in sectors such as advanced manufacturing technologies,
mining, energy, and the environment, focusing on identifying, promoting, and developing business opportunities
in Mexico.
José is the former president of the Mexico-Canada
Business Committee at the Mexican Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE). He also
served as Co-Chair of the Trade, Investment and Innovation Working Group of the Mexico-Canada Alliance,
created in 2004 to promote business relations between the two countries.
Between 1999 and 2001, José was Executive Vice President for North America at the Mexican Investment Council, the predecessor to ProMéxico, which was committed to attracting foreign direct investment to Mexico. He advised foreign investors on exploring and identifying business opportunities, which he then promoted at events in the US and Canada. Between 1991 and 1994, José served as economic advisor at the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Office, which the Mexican government opened in Washington, D.C., to support the NAFTA negotiating team. He participated in the negotiation of the Energy Chapter of the treaty and played a key lobbying role in the U.S. Congress, coordinating the Mexican government's communications and media campaign during the negotiation period. From 1994 to 1999, at the Mexican Embassy in Washington, he contributed to NAFTA implementation efforts, overseeing the chapters on transportation, telecommunications, and temporary entry into the trade agreement.
Throughout his career, José has dedicated his intellectual rigor and technical expertise to sensitive work and documents, such as research and intelligence reports, position papers, editorials, speeches, and market studies. He has translated three books from English into Spanish, the most recent being *Mexican Mosaic* by Rodney Gallup, and published a biography of his father.
